Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 1998 Subaru Legacy GT and Yamaha YZ250 Dirt Bike Motorcycle
Question:
Hello, I have a yz250 with a wet weight of 210lbs. I was wondering if this would pair nicely with, Item # C12270, one of the best choices for the 1 1/4inch hitches. Ill be using a vehicle with a 2,500lbs tow capacity, 1998 Subaru Legacy GT. Do you think this would be a sufficient setup? In Montana driving about 20 minutes to and from the track.

For your 1998 Subaru Legacy GT, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C12270 is the best hitch option you have for tongue weight and is a 1-1/4 inch receiver. We don't have a motorcycle carrier for that size receiver, so I recommend using the 19x47 Curt Cargo Carrier for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Steel - 300 lbs # C18110. Then you can use the Erickson Motorcycle and ATV Tie-Downs w Soft Ties and TCS Buckles - 1"x6' - 400 lbs - Qty 2 # EM05729 to secure your bike to the carrier. You may want to consider the Erickson Removable Motorcycle Wheel Chock # EM07506 for added stability.
The wet weight of your Yamaha YZ250 at 210 lbs will be added to the cargo carrier weight of 33 lbs staying well within the capacity of your 350 lb hitch tongue weight.
