Replacement Bearings or Replacement Hubs for 3,500 lbs E-Z Lube Axles

Question:

down to earth 3500# dual axles - bearing parts or replace hubs? hi - i have a down-to-earth dual axle ez lube equipment trailer that is going to need the hub bearings changed out. the trailer doesnt really have a model number to be more specific. nonetheless, without breaking down the hub first, would you happen to know the part numbers to order? ALSO, id like to know if the load capacity is 2800/wheel, does that mean if it bares half the weight of a 2800# load/axle?

If you have 3,500 lb axles, then it is rare that you will have bearings that are anything other than the Bearing Kit for #84 Spindle, L44649/L68149 Bearings, 10-19 Double Lip Seal # BK2-100, but I do recommend pulling your hub and checking the bearing numbers printed on the face of each bearing to confirm as I'm not familiar with that manufacturer. If you wanted new hubs, then the etrailer Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly for 3,500-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2 # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K would be a great choice.

Load capacity on your trailer is rated by the weakest component in your system. This could be the tire, wheel, axle, leaf spring, coupler, etc. Most of the time the wheels are rated higher than the axle. So to use your example, if you have 3,500 lb axles that have wheels rated for 2,800 lbs each, you won't have a capacity of 5,600 lbs but rather a capacity of 3,500 lbs as limited by your axle capacity. Because you have tandem axles, the capacity is 7,000 lbs, not 11,200 lbs.
