Tow Bar Recommendation for 2002 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
Ive ordered the 1420-1 base plate. Im now considering the ReadyBrute Elite Tow Bar instead of the Blue Ox or Falcon 2 Tow Bar. I dont find the Ready Brute Tow Bar in your inventory. Do you sell it? If not, why not?

Expert Reply:
We do have a selection of high-quality tow bars but as of this writing we do not have any ReadyBrute products. We carry most towing accessories but not from every manufacturer of every product. This allows us to gain the most knowledge and expertise on what we do carry as opposed to just stocking every item on the market.
The best option to go with the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 1420-1 among the options you listed is definitely the Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 because it is going to work seamlessly with the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 1420-1 on your 2002 Jeep Wrangler without the use of adapters like the Blue Ox does.
Just keep in mind you are going to want to use the RoadMaster Release Tool for Motor Home Mounted Tow Bars # RM-066 with this tow bar. If you want a tow bar that you won't need to use the release tool with you should go with the Roadmaster Falcon All-Terrain # RM-522.
Along with your base plates and tow bar there are a number of other parts you will need to flat tow your 2002 Jeep Wrangler:
- Safety Chains: RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Supplemental Braking System: SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251 OR if your motorhome has air brakes: SMI Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motor Homes with Air Brakes # SM99243
- Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400
The wiring kit is designed to effectively prevent electrical feedback to keep your Wrangler's electrical system safe, and the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO as well as the SMI Air Force One supplemental braking systems are highly recommended because they a one-time install which you can leave in so you'll never have to activate or deactivate them. You will also need the Brake-Lite Relay Kit in order to ensure your Jeep's turn signal lights flash in tandem with your RV's lights.
Finally, you may also need a High-Low Adapter in order to safely keep your Jeep level when you are towing it. I have added a help article for you which shows how to figure out which adapter you need as well as a link to our selection of adapters.
I have also added links to instruction manuals and video reviews for you to take a look at.
