Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Controller that Doesn't Apply Trailer Brakes

Question:

My 2006 Chevy Silverado using a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 controller quit working. The control shows power of over 10v to the brakes and I have conferred the voltage on the trailer side of the pig tail. But I have no brake. I can hear the brakes make noise when I apply the brakes. I have used it on two different trailers with the same results. I get no warning on the controller for no ground. Any idea on what is wrong?

Does the controller show a connection to your trailer? Typically what you described is the result of a dirty trailer connector pin and all you need to do is clean off the pins and you're ready to go. But the P3 # 90195 would show "no connection" if this was the case. What I would recommend trying after cleaning the pins of the connector is unplugging the controller and replugging it back in to reset it. Sometimes that clears out weird internal errors.

I attached a help article with more troubleshooting tips for brake controllers as well.
