Trailer Hitch Needed for a 1992 Road Trek Van to Carry Cargo and Bikes

Question:

I have a 1992 Road trek van conversion of a dodge b350 van. It has a storage trunk under the rear floor immediatly in front of the standard bumper, covering the frame members. Is there a hitch I can install for carrying a storage box or bicycle rack?

Although we haven't performed an installation on a 1992 Road Trek Van, from what you are describing I believe that the Class III Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75140 will fit. If you check out the attached photos you can see that it installs directly to the frame and the crosstube sits below the bumper itself.

If this does fit then I recommend using the etrailer.com Cargo Carrier # E98874 because it has tilting and folding functions, has a weight rating of 500 lbs, and comes with an anti-rattle hitch pin to help minimize movement. The anti-rattle pin can be upgraded to locking with part # e99047.

Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR is the bike rack that I recommend going with because it is a cost-effective way to transport up to 4 bikes with the strong Thule name to reassure you that you are making a quality purchase. This also comes with an anti-rattle hitch pin but if you are wanting to add locks to the bike rack and your bikes use parts # THSTL2 and # e98891. Please also note that if you have any bikes with a step-through or alternative frame then you will need to use an adapter bar like part # UB01 to keep the bike level.

Review videos of these products has been linked as well as installation instructions for the trailer hitch.
