Question:

Looking to purchase a 2010 to 2012 GMC Terrain to flat tow behind my RV. Can I use a AWD or Front wheel drive?

I took a look at the owner's manual for a 2012 GMC Terrain and it stated that "Front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive vehicles may be dinghy towed from the front" so you can go with either option, though I do recommend verifying this with the dealership.

There are a number of parts needed in order to flat tow a 2012 GMC Terrain:

- Base Plate Kit: Demco Classic Base Plate Kit # DM9518262
- Tow Bar: Demco Excali-Bar III Non-Binding Tow Bar # DM9511013
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25
- Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass Switch # RM-76517 (4-Cylinder Engine) OR # RM76511 (V6 Engine)
- Supplemental Braking System: Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700
- Stop Light Switch # RM-751439

Base plates are vehicle-specific and the Demco Classic are a fit for your '12 Terrain and give your car a clean look. The Excali-Bar tow bar is a great option because it has long arms which make it easier to maneuver when towing, along with integrated safety cables and an adjustable, tilting head so a high-low adapter won't be needed; having these features on a tow bar means you won't have to purchase them separately, saving you additional expenses.

The wiring kit is designed to effectively prevent electrical feedback to keep your Terrain's electrical system safe, and the InvisiBrake supplemental braking system is highly recommended because it is a one-time install which you can leave in so you'll never have to deactivate or reactivate it.

I have also added links to video reviews and installations for you to take a look at.
