etrailer.com Hub/Drum Assembly and Brakes for a 3500 lb Rockwell American Utility Trailer Axle

Question:

Is AKHD-545-35-EZ-K the correct drum/hub assembly to work with AKEBRK-35 electric brake assembly? Is AKHD-545-35-EZ-K sold as a single unit order 2 for 1 axle? Is AKEBRK-35 electric brake assembly compatible with my 3500 lb Rockwell American utility trailer axle? Thank you

Yes, the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K is what you would want to use in conjunction with the 10" Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35.

From the picture you sent in you do have the 4 bolt mounting flange that allows you to use the 10" brake kit. Just check and be sure that your current hubs use the standard inner bearing # L68149, outer bearing # L44649, and grease seal # 58846 and you are good to go on that end!

Please note that you also need to run the wiring for the brakes and a breakaway kit on your trailer. I recommend using the Junction Box # HS381-9000 to help make organizing and connecting your wires easier. You can then use 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 to route it to the 10" brakes and the recommended Hopkins Engager Breakaway Kit # 20099.

You also need a brake controller installed in your tow vehicle to activate the brakes. If you don't already have one just let me know what the year/make/model of your vehicle is and if it has a tow package or not and I can make a recommendation for you.

Some videos have been linked for you to reference as well as a helpful article on adding electric drums brakes to a trailer.
