Trailer Hitch and Brake Controller Recommendation for 2013 Mazda 5
Question:
Hello, With this hitch would I be able to tow a tear that has a max weight is 1500lb? And would you recommend a break controller? For some reason the Mazda towing specs differ from US and UK. And Im anticipating youre going to say to me that I should refer to my Mazda dealer or Manual. Much appreciated.

The towing capacities are typically a bit higher in every country other than the US. This is due mostly to the amount of lawsuits here in the US and the manufacturers wanting to do their best to avoid getting sued. I am not sure where you are from but this hitch is only guaranteed to fit the US versions of the Mazda 5 so you'll have to check with the owners manual like you mentioned as they are the final authority.
This Draw Tite hitch part # 24874 has a trailer towing capacity of 2,000 lbs so it would have the needed capacity as long as your vehicle does too.
You will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 118520.
From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup.
