Needed Parts to Install Brake Controller on 1999 Dodge Dakota
Question:
1999 Dodge Dakota, six cylinder. Apparently I still do not have all the parts I need. Please review my order and tell me what I need to be able to connect my camper to my truck braking system. I believe I need a seven prong adapter that connects to the wiring harness I bought and my camper?

The brake controller wiring adapter you referenced, part # 3020-P will only work with your Dakota if it was equipped with the factory tow package, which included a 7-way trailer connector at the rear bumper.
Since you do not have the factory 7-way, your Dakota does not have the tow package and the brake controller will need to be hardwired into the truck.
You will need a brake controller (which according to your order, you already have) a functional 4-pole trailer connector on the Dakota like part # 118329 and our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7.
The 4-pole connector would be installed as outlined in the instructions.
The brake controller install kit provides everything necessary for installing your controller, including all wire, hardware, circuit breakers and the adapter to convert the 4-pole to a 7-way trailer connector.
I have linked you to the parts I recommended, I have also provided links to install videos and FAQ articles that will assist with your installation.
