Troubleshooting Brake Controller that Shows Braking Activity Without Brake Pedal Pressed  

Question:

I tested the break controller leads and power is present. When the trailer is connected the break controller display shows that break pressure is Being applied and there truck is in park.

Sounds like you have a short between the 12 volt power circuit and the stoplight switch circuit. This is typically caused by exposed wire where the controller was wired in making contact. Go over the connections the controller made to your truck and see if you can clean up any shorts you see there.
