Why Aren't All Bike Racks Approved for Use Behind an RV

Question:

Due to the fact that a bike rack on the rear of RVs are under more stress than on the rear of the a typical car or truck, manufacturers only have a few bike racks that are rated for RV use Question: Why is the stress more on the rv?

Expert Reply:

At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the RV which exaggerates the movement of the RV when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few bike racks were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use.

I attached a link to this page that has all of the RV approved bike racks we carry as well.
