What Would Cause Roadmaster Brakemaster Kit to Drain Vehicle Battery
Question:
I have the Brakemaster 9000 unit with a RM-8600 breakaway unit. A direct electrical short drains my auto battery overnight. Pulled apart the yellow fuse holder. Short stopped. The fuse pulled apart with the ends still in fuse holder. I then found the breakaway switch pulled out. I plan to install a new fuse holder what size fuse?. push in the switch plunger, and see if I still have a direct short. If I do, what is my next step? Thank you for your time and consideration.

The problem is definitely the breakaway pin being pulled out. When that's pulled it allows current to pass through it to push the brakes. Have you tried replacing that to see if the problem persists or goes away? Your fuse holder and fuse seem to be in good working order and would not need to be replaced.
