No Trailer Connector Message on Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller
Question:
I have a Tekonsha 90195 P3 Electronic Brake Controller. installed in a 2017 Titan. I have used it before on a travel trailer and it worked. Recently I tried hooking it up to a new trailer and it tells me that there is no trailer connected but the indicating color is the regular display color not red. I would expect the color to be red if there was ans issue. Does it mean anything different about the trailer connection? Thank You

If the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 is showing the no trailer connected text/icon with the trailer connected then there is an issue with the brake output wire. The color of the screen doesn't matter. In order to fix this you will need to trace the usually blue brake output wire from the brake controller all the way back to the braking assemblies. The most common issue is at the trailer connectors so make sure the pins inside them are clean and the wires leading into them are secure. If there are any breaks in the wire you will need to repair or replace as needed wit part # 10-1-1. The issue could also be a problem with the brake magnets on the trailer so you will want to check these as well using the attached help article. If you have access to a different trailer/tow vehicle you could narrow down which side the issue is occuring on.
