Installing EcoHitch Stealth Receiver # EH84GR on 2018 Tesla Model 3

Question:

Hello, After looking at your installation video, I have specific questions before placing an order. 1. Behind the crash bar, a plate is remove and the installer mention an epoxy seal. Once that plate is removed, from the video it doesnt look like theres anything to prevent rust. It looks like the car is painted with the plates in place. Is that right? I live in a place with winder + salt on the road and cracking that epoxy seal will make rust very soon. Any idea how to address my concern? 2. The installer used a tool to make the crash bars holes slightly bigger to allow the screw from the hitch... Im guessing this is needed for all installations, correct? Thank you,

I see exactly what you are referring to with regards to the plates that need to be removed on the Tesla Model 3 when installing the EcoHitch # EH84GR. There is no need to worry though about rust or corrosion in that area because the mounting brackets for the hitch will essentially be taking their place. Using the included nylon washers and bolts the hitch brackets will create a tight seal at that location to prevent anything from creeping in between them and the frame.

Once the hitch is in place I do recommend adding the Undercover Access Hole Cover # 306-XA2002 to cover up the access hole on the vehicle when the receiver is removed.

As you mentioned in your question, you will need to use a hole saw to cut a hole large enough on the underside of the bumper to accommodate the receiver.
