Which Direction Should Shocks of Lippert Shock Kit Point on Tandem Axle Trailer

Question:

Several of your questions and answers are dealing with the question of placement of the LCI shocks on the front and rear axles on a tandem trailer. Your response is: The shock should mount at the Axle U-bolts on an included bracket and then mount on an upper bracket pointing to the rear of the trailer at a 45 degree angle. The instructions from the LCI documentation on Step 7 has a note: Mount shocks pointing outward away from the shackle kit, equalizer and/or center point to get the best performance from the shocks. My interpretation of this would put the front shocks pointing to the front of the trailer and the rear shocks pointing to the rear of the trailer. Could you please clarify and create a drawing showing both axles and the placement of both sets of shocks?

Expert Reply:

The installation process of the Lippert Components Bolt-On Shock Kit part # LC281255 will be the same for a single axle trailer and a tandem/triple axle trailer, just repeated. When installing the shocks, you want to point them away from the shackle straps. So they will angle opposite each other on a tandem axle trailer.

I have attached a photo of this for you as well.
