Wiring a Pollak 7-Way Connector on a Fleetwood RV

Question:

My Fleetwood on a Freightliner chassis does not have a red wire for the hitch plug. Has black, blue, white, green, Brown and yellow. Tried to use yellow in place of the red - didnt work. All diagrams show red wire. How do I wire the 7 way plug on the RV side

I believe that your problem is the color of the wiring itself. Although there are standards out there, sometimes vehicle manufacturers use different color wiring for different functions which ends up throwing people off when they are trying to install a connector like what you are doing with the Pollak # PK12-707E.

Try taking a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 or a multimeter like part # PTW1714 and test the functions of each wire on your Fleetwood. For example, use one of your turn signals and then isolate which wire is receiving the on and off power and mark it as that specific turn signal. Once you have labeled each of the wires on your Fleetwood connect them to the following "colors" on the Pollak connector:

White - Ground
Blue - Electric Brake Output
Green - Tail, License, and Running Lights
Black - Battery Charge (12V Power)
Red - Stop and Left-Hand Turn Signal
Brown - Stop and Right-Hand Turn Signal
Yellow - Auxiliary Circuit

Attached is a review video of this connector for you to reference.
