Can the SMI Air Force One Braking System be Installed if Vehicle Has Adjustable Pedals

Question:

My truck has adjustable pedals. How does this system deal with the slack/tightness of the cable when brake pedal can be at different locations? This is on a 2019 RAM 1500 but would assume this issue would follow any vehicle with adjustable pedals

That is a great question! Demco/SMI has actually already thought about vehicles with adjustable pedals, like your 2019 Ram 1500, when installing the Air Force One # SM99243. Basically you just need to adjust the pedal so that it sits closest to your seat when installing the Air Force One and then move it to this position when flat towing your pickup.

Their official statement (found in the attached installation instructions) says:

Special attention must be given to vehicles with adjustable pedals. Check for proper clearance in all positions. When adjusting the cable, be sure that the pedals are positioned closest to the driver’s seat. This will allow normal operation of the adjustable pedals. Be sure to return the pedals closest to the driver’s seat when preparing to tow, or the braking system will not function properly. As an option, the pedals may be moved to the desired position and disabled. Do not depend on the fact that “no one moves them.”
