Can a Portable Grill with Built-In Regulator be Attached to the Quick-Disconnect on a Camper

Question:

I have a generic portable propane grill that has a hose that screws into a 20lb tank. I now have a travel trailer that has 2 20lb propane tanks, and a female quick connect in the back, outside kitchen. Last trip I had to carry a 3rd separate, 20 lb propane tank just for the grill. It is impossible to take the hose off the grill and replace it with a quick connect. I want a male connector to screw into the hose that is on the grill today, that has a hose with a male quick connect on the other end. The cam59903 looks like it will screw into the hose on the grill??? And the male quick connect end will fit into a female quick connect that attaches to a hose? And, the other end of that hose could be a male quick connect that fits into the trailer? If so... buy the 59903 product and? what hose will I need? Thanks pictures show the connector on the grill that screws into a 20lb tank, and quick connect on the trailer

I do have the correct fitting part # CAM59213 and hose part # 100476-48-MBS that will allow you to attach the female quick-disconnect fitting (photo 1) on your trailer to the type 1 fitting (photo 2) on your propane grill. However, the issue you are going to run into is that the female quick-disconnect fitting on your trailer is most likely ran through the regulator which means you can't then use another regulator on the actual grill because it would reduce the water column output too much.

Therefore, the only way to reuse the grill you have now with the quick-disconnect fitting on your trailer would be to install a tee like the MB Sturgis Sturgi-Stay T-Fitting part # 103613-MBS before the regulator. You would then need to attach the quick disconnect line on the camper to either the female quick-disconnect fitting or the 1-20" disposable cylinder port on the tee before the regulator. You could also attach your grill directly to the tee with the MB Sturgis Disposable Propane Bottle Adapter Fitting part # 204132-MBS.

The best option would be to obtain a grill without a built-in regulator like the Camco Olympian 5500 Stainless Steel RV Propane Grill part # CAM57305. I wish I had better options for you but there is no easy way to do the above.
