Can a 2016 Honda Civic be Flat-Towed
Question:
Good morning. We are interested in dingy towing a Honda Civic 6 speed behinds a Winnebago View 24v. First we want to know if they can be towed? We noticed you do not list towing equipment for the years 2014 and 2015. Is that, becUse those 2 years can’t be towed. Please advise before we buy one. We would be glad to purchase all necessary towing equipment from your company. Thanks much

According to the owner's manual for your 2016 Honda Civic, if the vehicle has a manual transmission then it can be towed behind a motorhome with all four wheels on the ground. From my research, the tenth generation which is what you have from 2016+ plus is flat towable whereas the ninth generation from 2012-2015 is not flat towable.
In order to flat-tow the vehicle you going to need a tow bar, base plate kit, safety cables, tail light wiring harness, supplemental braking system, and possibly a high-low adapter. There may also be a few other smaller components that are needed depending on the options the vehicle is equipped with.
For a tow bar, I recommend the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar part # BX7380. The Alpha is one of the best tow bars we offer. It has a non-binding and self-aligning design which makes for an extremely easy hookup. It also comes with safety cables. This towbar is then compatible with the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit part # BX2264. The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit is a custom fit for your Civic and will provide you with removable arms which makes for a clean look while not in tow.
Then for a flat-tow wiring harness I recommend the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles part # RM-152-LED because you don't have to splice into any of the factory vehicle wiring. You can also go with the Heavy Duty Magnetic Tow Lights part # TL21RK if you don't want to make any modifications to the vehicle whatsoever.
For a supplemental braking system, I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System part # BLU37TR for the same premises above in that you don't have to make any modifications to the tow vehicle.
Finally, you may or may not need to use a high-low adapter. In order to determine if there is a need to use one measure from the ground to the center of the base plate kit on the vehicle and compare that distance to the measurement from the ground to the center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch on the motorhome. If this distance is not within 3" of one another then you want to use a high-low adapter which I have attached a list of for you in addition to several other review videos on the above products.
