Installation of the Lets Go Aero Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock

Question:

Does this install into the hitch receiver connected to the vehicle? Or the accessorys hitch mount such as a bike rack. I have two vehicles that I use my bike rack on. Trying to figure out if I need one for each vehicle, or if I need just one for the bike rack itself.

The SilentACT Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Lock - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # SHP2082 is designed to be used with a ball mount or other accessory. The bike racks normally have a brand specific anti-rattle locking hitch where the inside of the bike rack shank that goes into your receiver is not hollow and rather is already threaded for that brand pin so you wouldn't need a separate one for another vehicle as most fit 1-1/4 and 2 inch hitches.

There are a few bike racks that do not have a threaded shank, and in the case where you have a rack with just the pin hole and a hollow shank, this anti-rattle lock will work well. I've attached a diagram of how the threaded block and spring are inserted inside the shank of the accessory and then the pin with washer on the outside of one side of the receiver connects through and draws the accessory tight to that side of the receiver and the lock secures it after being tightened in place. I've also attached a video of the 2 inch receiver lock # 63232 of the same design to assist. If your trailer hitches are the same size on multiple vehicles you would only need one, but if they are different sizes, then you will need one of each.

If you let me know what bike rack you have I can help further.
