Troubleshooting 0.9 Code on a Prodigy P2 Controller Installed on a 2002 Chevy Suburban
Question:
I am seeing a code 0.9 . The operating indicators note tells me Trailer is connected and Prodigy loses connection to battery. ground How can I fix this? Also, the code stays on constant. Should the code stop showing after a period of time? Does not shut off. Can this condition cause the battery to lose power if it is not driven for a few days? My vehicle is a 2002 Suburban 2500. I really appreciate your advice.

You are correct that the 0.9 code on your Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 means that the "Trailer is connected and the Prodigy P2 loses connection to the battery ground". The instructions for this brake controller say that this code either flashes 2 times a second or stays on constantly so it doesn't sound like what you are experiencing (that it doesn't shut off) is normal.
If the code is showing and you don't have a trailer connected then that would mean that the 12V power wire and the wire from the P2 to the 7-Way on your 2002 Chevrolet Suburban are making contact somewhere. This is most likely in the 7-Way connector itself so start off checking there for any corrosion or rust and clean as needed.
If the code is only showing with a trailer connected then by unplugging your trailer the P2 should turn off eventually. Regardless of whether it does or doesn't though you will need to check the ground connection to the brake controller itself. This is the white wire coming from the controller.
You should have been able to install the P2 using the adapter # 3025-P under the driver's side dash on your Suburban so check to make sure that this is securely connected to the plug under your dash. If that looks good then try checking the battery under your hood for any extra wires that may be attached to it (or the negative terminal). It is very likely that the connection point has been corroded so you will need to clean that and your 0.9 code should go away!
Let me know if this doesn't fix your problem and I can help you troubleshoot further.
