Recommended Brake Controller and 7-Way for 2012 Dodge Durango
Question:
Cant find your wiring harness kit to prepare our Durango to tow small trailer camper with trailer brakes. Installed your 4 plug kit 2 years ago. Now 7 plug is needed with brake controller. Does not have factory tow package on this 2012 Dodge Durango. I added your Curt hitch. Please advise. Jim

I have the perfect brake controller setup for your 2012 Dodge Durango that is currently equipped with the 4-Way connector.
For the brake controller itself I highly recommend the Curt Echo # C51180. This is a really unique proportional controller that simply plugs into the 7-Way on the Durango and pairs to your smartphone via Bluetooth after downloading the free app. It will automatically activate the trailer brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in the vehicle and you can control its settings and the manual override with the touch of your finger using your phone.
In addition to the easy operation on the brake controller, part of what makes this unit so great is the easy installation process. In order to convert your existing 4-Way to a 7-Way that will work with the controller you just need the Wiring Kit # ETBC7L. This kit includes a 7-Way that will plug right into the 4-Way on your Durango and the needed 12-gauge wiring and circuit breaker to run the power wire up to the battery. Because the Curt Echo doesn't need the brake signal output to be active on the 7-Way like most other controllers, this is the only additional wire you will need to run. This makes for an extremely easy setup compared to most other brake controllers on the market.
One other item you might consider is a dash mount phone bracket like the Rear View Safety # RVS-CEL-M1.
