Bike Rack Recommendation for Vehicle with Class I Hitch
Question:
Do you recommend a 1.25 to 2inch extension? I have a bike rack that requires a 2inch selection. If so, which extension do you recommend? Some extension products says it fits a class II 1.25 hitch. All I see is class I hitches for my HR-V Thanks in advance.

If you already have a 1-1/4" hitch, I have a solution for you, but it is not a hitch adapter. When you use a hitch adapter or extender you end up cutting the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. This can sometimes work with higher rated hitches, but for a Class I hitch with an already really low capacity this is not ideal at all. There aren't any 1-1/4 inch to 2-inch hitch extensions available anyway. Only great option you have would be to go with a bike rack designed to fit the 1-1/4 inch size you have already.
The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Thule Camber 2 part # TH9058. We asked our demo and install guys to name their favorite, most easy-to-use bike racks and this one showed up in nearly everyone's top three. Check out the review video I attached for more info.
If you have not already purchased a hitch, i have an even better solution for you. The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit # 306-X7322 is a 2" hitch and has a 300-pound tongue weight capacity. You could use the same Thule Camber bike rack # TH9058 or choose from many more options. And you would not need a hitch adapter. You also will not be limited to only 2 bikes like the class I would require of you. You can carry i[ to 4 bikes on this hitch as long as you stay under the 300 lb capacity.
If you plan on carrying any women's or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes with either hitch, you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
