I spoke to my contact at Demco about the issue you are having with the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System part # SM99251 on your 2015 Jeep Cherokee. They stated that this could be caused by either splicing into the wrong stop light switch wire or a check valve has been installed backwards. If you had a shop install the unit then I would take it back to them immediately otherwise you can follow the steps below.

If you take a look at page 8 in the instruction manual for the SMI Stay-IN-Play, you can see the process to install the monitor light. This requires splicing into the vehicle's stop light switch wire which if hooked up incorrectly could cause an engine light to appear. According to my research, the stop light switch wire on your Jeep is a dark green/light green wire but you can confirm this with a circuit tester.

If you take a look at page 15 in the instruction manual for the SMI Stay-IN-Play, you can see the process to install the check valve. The orientation of this valve is critical. If it was installed backwards then it could very well cause the cruise control to no longer work as it is vacuum operated. The black end of the check valve will need to be installed so that the line attached to it leads to the motor. The green end of the check valve will need to be installed so that the line attached to it leads to the booster.

The written installation instructions have been attached for you as well.
