Which Bulldog Powered Drive Kit Works with 2 Speed Bulldog Landing Gear Trailer Jacks
Question:
How do I tell if I have a single speed or 2 speed jack on my Exiss horse trailer? Or does it matter.

Expert Reply:
A 2 speed jack will have a second gear set attached to the jack. It would either be operated by taking the handle off of the first speed and moving it to a separate spot on the jack for the second speed or, more commonly, the crank handle will be pushed in or pulled out to engage the second gear set. Take a look at the Bulldog 2-Speed Jack, # BD183816, as an example.
It does matter between single and 2 speed when you are looking to add a powered drive kit. The powered drive, # BD1824200100, that you have referenced is for single speed Bulldog jacks rated for 12,000 pounds. For a 2 speed Bulldog jack with planetary gears, rated at 12,000 pounds, you would use # BD1824180100. Adding a powered drive kit to a 2 speed jack will allow to operate only on one speed and the capacity is limited to 7,500 pounds.
