How to Install a 7-Way on a 2011 Honda CR-V for Charging a Trailer Battery

Question:

I am looking to purchase a hitch and a wiring harness from etrailer.com for my 2011 Honda CRV. That installation seems pretty straight forward. But I also need a 7 way adapter. I will be pulling a light pop up without trailer brakes, so I dont need to wire a brake controller. But I would be interested in wiring it so the trailer batter would receive a charge while in transit. So I need to bring 1 wire to the battery, as well as connect the ground. Do you have documentation detailing this?

Absolutely! For your 2011 Honda CR-V I first recommend installing the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118427 which is completely plug and play. You can see this process in the attached install video. Then in order to convert this 4-way into a 7-way I recommend using the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole part # 37185 because it has a mounting bracket and both 4 and 7-way trailer connection points.

The only two wires you will want to attach on the 4 to 7-way adapter is the ground (white) and 12 volt power (black). In order to run the 12 volt power wire to the battery you will need part # 10-1-1 (per foot) and part # PK54540. Also, if the trailer hitch on your CR-V doesn't have a welded tab like on part # 75547 you will also need the No-Drill Bracket part # C57202 in addition to the mounting bracket included with the 7-way.
