Hitch Recommendation for 2002 Jeep Liberty for Use with Weight Distribution
Question:
Dear Etrailer, I purchased all of your recommended items for my 2002 3.7L automatic Jeep Liberty. Unfortunately, I just noticed that the installed 8-year old Class-3 Curt Hitch Item # 13044 is Not rated for use with weight-distribution systems, inch yet I must soon pull a 4,300 GTW 19foot trailer with the little Liberty. FYI: I had already purchased your recommended Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Controlinch # FA92-00-0800. I realize I can stiffen-up my rear suspension to helpinch with the weight distribution part of the equation with your Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement Systeminch # TJRL4, but what can I do about adding sway control on this apparently quite delicate Class 3 hitch? Thank you! PS: Can I also return the Fastway e2? I did open the box...

Here's what I would recommend. Since your trailer will be on the heavier side of the towing capacity of your 2002 Jeep Liberty you are going to want to be able to use weight distribution if at all possible. To accomplish that you can replace the Curt hitch you have with the Draw Tite hitch part # 75128 which is rated for weight distribution and would be a great solution. This way you don't have to return anything and you'll have the best towing setup available for your 2002 Jeep Liberty.
