The issue you are having could indeed be a problem with the thermostat but it could also be a problem with the lift arm. When you apply the switch on the thermostat does the arm bind at all? If so then it will need to be replaced for which we have part # FVK8011-05 if you have a dome lid or part 8014-05 if you have a flat lid. We currently do not offer the replacement arm for the flat lid models so you would need to contact the manufacturer if this is the problem and model you have.

If the arm is not bent or binding then you will need to test the thermostat. In order to do this you would need to remove the cap and twist the two wires together. If the dome opens and fan starts, let it run a few minutes. Then break the wires apart and if dome closes and fan stops, you need to replace the thermostat with part 9988-81 which we also do not offer so you would need to contact the manufacturer.

If the lift arm and thermostat have both been ruled out then the only other cause is the circuit board inside of the unit. In order to replace this you will need to use the Fan-Tastic Vent 3350 Series Upgrade Kit part # FV803358 as the circuit board itself is not replaceable. This should get your fan working as normal again.
