Some Trailer Lights Not Working After Fixing Damaged Wiring Harness on a 2003 Chevy Silverado
Question:
Hi. I have a 2003. Silverado. I had an issue with all of the lights working on a trailer. I found a fuse bad under the hood. Replaced and all worked fine. The wires got smashed and torn by the hitch. 3 wires were cut. I rewired it back together Now the right side and break lights will not work. I rechecked the fuse. All are good. I have used a light tester to determine I am no longer getting power on 2 of the wires. Which is right back to where I started before I replaced the fuse. Any ideas ??

There could be other fuses that were affected in the tow package wiring for your 2003 Chevy Silverado. Check the fuses labeled VEH CHMSL, LT TRLR ST/TRN, and RT TRLR ST/TRN in the instrument panel fuse block.
In the center instrument panel fuse block check the one labeled TRAILER.
Under the hood check the TRL PARK and TRL B/U locations.
I think what happened was when the wiring harness was damaged it caused a short that blew a fuse or fuses. That may be the only issue so check those and replace as needed. If you still have the same issue let me know.
