Recommended Trailer Wiring for 2006 Ford F-150
Question:
I replaced the 4 way connector on my 2006 f150 after I hooked up my trailer and discovered it had no lights. After replacing the connector on the trailer I still have no lights on the trailer.....help!

If you are using the Ford Replacement OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness, 7-Way # 118242 on your 2006 Ford F-150, that is most likely the issue. That harness only is compatible with models up to 2004.
For your 2006 F-150, you will either use the 4 way # C56031 to give you a 4-way trailer connection or # 74682 if you are replacing a 7-way connector.
If you wish to upgrade from a 4-way to a 7-way, then you will want the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole # 37185 and after connecting the 4-way, connect the blue wire on the adapter to the blue wire found at the driver's side frame rail and then connect the black wire on the adapter to the orange or red wire found in that same frame rail location.
