Using WeatherTech Hitch Step with 2-1/2 Inch Hitch Receiver
Question:
Will this work in a 2 1/2inch with the 2inch adapter hitch? i.e. will the supplied bolt tighten sufficiently. to make the step rigid? Or, better yet, is there a 2 1/2inch model?

You can indeed use the WeatherTech BumpStep Hitch-Mounted Protector and Step # WT81BS1 with your 2-1/2 inch hitch using a reducer sleeve like the Curt # C45405. The hitch step does not include a hitch pin/bolt but this can be added with a standard pin and clip like # PC3 or a locking pin like our # e98880. The hitch step will still be able to attach securely to the reducer sleeve so that you have a solid platform to step up on.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this product that you can also check out.
We do not currently have any hitch-mounted steps that are designed to mount directly to a 2-1/2 inch hitch receiver.
