Coleman 285 Grill Compatibility with Propane Quick Connect on Trailer

Question:

Hi: I have a Jayco trailer with propane lines at the rear. I have a coleman roadtrip 285 grill. I asked the folks at the RV store for a hose/adapter to use the camper quick connect coupling. They told me most grills will not work this way. The propane lines under the camper are low pressure and the grill needs high pressure. The grill has a regulator and it needs to be supplied with high pressure or it will not function properly. Only a few grills can be adapted to work this way and If you try to hook it up that way you will only get a very small flame. Are they correct? Would I be able to not use the grill regulator and have a good grill fire.

Your quick disconnect was designed for appliances like a grill or stove to be used. Certain grills do have a different connection that requires more power as your Coleman Roadtrip may. Based on some research there are many videos that show how to remove your regulator on your grill so it can be used with your quick connect, but it does require some modification of your grill connection with a kit that we don't offer.

I instead recommend using the Camco 90-Degree Brass Propane Tee w/ 3 Ports and 12' Long Extension Hose # CAM59143 which will install prior to your trailer regulator on the front of your trailer for the high pressure connection that requires no change to your grill.
