Recommended Electric Bike Carrier With Swing Away for 2012 Toyota RAV4 with Rear Door Spare Tire
Question:
I have a e-city electric step threw bike, with fenders and my SUV is a 2012 RAV4, w/Spare Tire on back Door. Im looking for a Platform Style Rack with a Swing Away, so I can open my back door. I see about the Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Womens Bikes, that I might need to buy. I hope I gave you enough information about what Im looking for or your Expert Knowledge. Thanks Again!

For your Smartmotion E-City electric bike, I recommend the Saris Freedom 2 Bike Platform Rack # SA4412B which will allow you to hold the bike at the wheels and at the frame so you don't need the bike adapter bar you mentioned. Based on my research your bike is 25.5 kg which is just over 56 lbs, so this rack will accommodate your bike as it is rated for up to 60 lbs per bike. I also recommend the 8' Cable Lock and Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock for Saris Hitch Mounted Bike Racks # SA984 to secure your investment. This will work with your spare tire as is.
To give you the swing-away feature you requested, I also recommend the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks - 2" Hitches # Y02483.
This can also use this swing-away adapter the Thule EasyFold XT 2 Electric Bike Platform Rack # TH903202. This bike rack is unique in its integrated ramp for easy loading and unloading. This is also a really nice carrier because of its folding feature for storage and carrying. This carrier has the road dampening technology and the independently detachable arms for positioning the clamps where they can be best utilized. It contains all the locks needed and far more features but also a higher price point.
