Motorhome Hitch Class and Weight Capacities
Question:
1995 Fleetwood Flair 22D - Is my trailer hitch a #3 or 4 - It can tow 3500lbs. Thank you,

Expert Reply:
Often RV hitches have a sticker or other markings to indicate their Class Rating and actual weight capacities. The 3500-lb capacity you mention could indicate a Class II hitch. If it has a 1-1/4-inch receiver opening then it is a Class II. If it has a 3500-lb capacity and a 2-inch opening then it is most likely a Class III hitch.
If the hitch was original OEM equipment on the motorhome you can confirm the hitch class/ratings by contacting the motorhome maker with the unit's VIN.
We offer frame-mount RV hitches in various capacities, as shown on the page I linked for you. For instance, Curt adjustable 2-inch hitch # 13703 has a 3500-lb maximum towing capacity and fits on frames from 22 to 72-inch width.
