Recommendations for 5th Wheel Trailer Connection With Gooseneck Hitch

Question:

Thank you for the info. That was a very quick response and very informative. I do have one last question. What are the holes for on the round flat part that mounts against the 5th wheel? There are 2 round holes and 2 oblong holes.

The Hide-A-Goose Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch - 30,000 lbs # 9466 does not have an adapter that fits in the gooseneck underbed system. It would require an above bed adapter. The underbed systems that work with the hitches have pins that run all the way through the adapter to hold it into the system.

For a hitch you can use the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter - Single Jaw - 21,000 lbs # DM8550045 which attaches to the gooseneck hitch ball.

You can alternatively use a gooseneck adapter like the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter - 12" to 16" Tall - 20,000 lbs # CAB-C5G or if you have a short bed the offset adapter # CAB-C5GX1216.

Finally there are some pin box replacements that are compatible with gooseneck hitches called Goose Box that have integrated air ride. I've attached some links to further assist.

The holes in the flange you referenced are for mounting bolts. This is not required for using this system but are there for people who want to permanently fix the adapter to the trailer pin box which will include drilling and installing mounting hardware to the pin box. Again, this is not required and as you can see in the attached video is not something we even address in the install because it is optional according to the manufacturer.
