Recommended Hitch and Hitch Extension Compatible with 2011 Ford F-350 and 7K Trailer
Question:
I am trying to find an extension for my factory hitch on my 2011 F350. I need to be able to tow my camp trailer at roughly 7000# and my UTV in the bed with tailgate down. Can you tell me what my options are for this? I have researched on the site but no definitive answer.

If you have a 2-1/2 inch opening in your factory hitch receiver on your 2011 Ford F-350, then you can use the Reese Hitch Box Extension and Reducer for Titan 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches # RP45292 along with a weight distribution system for your 8,000 lb capacity.
If you have a 2 inch factory trailer hitch receiver opening, then there is another option. If you are right at the 7,000 lb trailer weight or under it, you can use the Brophy Hitch Extender with Step - 2" Hitches - 18" Long - 6-1/2" x 17" Platform # ST18 with a weight distribution system. The extension will reduce your hitch's tongue weight capacity by 1/3rd, so that is further limiting.
If you have a trailer that is over 7,000 lbs or your tongue weight is too high, then I recommend replacing your factory trailer hitch with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver-2" # C15410 and then using that # ST18 extender with weight distribution. You can alternatively replace your hitch with the 2-1/2 inch Class V hitch # C15810 and use the Reese extension # RP45292 with weight distribution.
I've attached an article on weight distribution and linked the page in case you need a system. If you'd like a recommendation, let me know.
