Is It Safe to Invert the Malone Dual Receiver Adapter for Towing?

Question:

I need the drop down to pull the trailer, not extra length. Are there any others like this one that can do drop or rise?

It is not recommended to invert the Malone 2" Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver # MPG544 for towing purposes. The extended receiver is only intended for accessory use not for a ball mount and trailer connection. Your trailer hitch's tongue weight will also be reduced by 50% when you use your bike rack in this adapter, so you will want to account for that as well. My recommendation is to use a longer ball mount like the # D-26 to give you that extra length you desire.

There are not adapters that can do what you are asking but there is a ball mount that can be used in the manner you are seeking. You can use either the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers - 2" Hitch - 7-1/2" Drop/Rise - 10K # 325-GH-314 or the 10 inch drop/rise # 325-GH-315. These stacked receivers will allow you to use an accessory as well as tow in a dropped position.
