Installing a Brake Controller in a 2004 Fleetwood Southwind 32VS with Factory 7-Way

Question:

I have a 2004 Fleetwood Southwind 32 ft Motorhome. It has a 7 prong plug and a large blue wire going into the plug. It has a class 3 hitch. Im assuming it is wired for a controller. im trying to find the wiring harness. What would it look like and where would it be located?

The 2004 Fleetwood Southwind 32VS was built on either a Ford chassis or a Workhorse chassis. If it has a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 20,500 pounds then it is the Ford chassis. If it has a GVWR or 20,700 pounds it is a Workhorse chassis.

If you determine that it was built on the Ford chassis then there is a brake controller plug but it is not easy to get to. It is up under the dash behind the instrument cluster. I have included a picture showing where it is. You would then need to use brake controller wiring harness # 3035-P to plug in a Tekonsha brake controller such as the P2 # 90885.

If it is on a Workhorse chassis then there isn't a wiring harness for it but the wiring to install a brake controller may be located up under the dash held together in a bundle with a white tag that explains the functions. If it is not there then you may need to contact Fleetwood since I found no helpful information in the Workhorse chassis manual.
