In order to flat tow your Jeep Liberty behind an RV/motorhome, you need a base plate kit, a tow bar, safety cables, a lighting solution, a supplemental braking system, and likely a high-low adapter.

Starting with the base plate kit, I recommend the Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit # RM-521423-5. These base plates are custom fit for your Jeep and feature a hidden bracket design for a clean look when you aren't towing. Its black powder coat finish is durable and will work do a nice job of resisting corrosion.

Then for a compatible tow bar that will work great with your Jeep Liberty I recommend the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain # RM-676. This is an excellent non-binding tow bar that allows for easy hookup even on unlevel ground. Its extra-long telescoping arms make for better maneuverability and the integrated LED lights illuminate with the RV's tail lights. Safety cables are also included so you won't need to purchase those separately. The tow bar has a towing capacity of 8,000 pounds.

Adding the Tow Bar Cover # RM-055-3 will help to prolong the life the tow bar by keeping it free from dirt and road grime as your trips start to pile up.

Moving on to a lighting solution, I like the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit # HM56203 for your Jeep Liberty. This is a custom harness that plugs into factory ports (no cutting or splicing necessary) behind the tail lights so that it accepts the required signal lights from the RV for flat towing.

For a braking system, I highly recommend the Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251. This is a proportional system that activates the Jeep's brakes at the same time and with the same intensity that you apply to them in the RV. The best thing about this particular system is that after the initial installation it requires very little attention as you transition from flat towing to every day driving (and vice versa). The operating unit and actuating cylinder stay hidden and out of the way and the system automatically functions when the Jeep is connected to the RV.

You need to add the Brake Lite Relay # RM-88400 to prevent the Jeep's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from the RV when applying the brakes during a turn. The Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 is also a good idea if you plan on towing the vehicle for long periods at a time. This kit allows up to 15 amps from the RV's battery to be used to maintain the charge on your Jeep's battery while it's being towed.

Lastly, you likely need a high-low adapter like the Roadmaster # RM-076 in order to keep the tow bar in the "Safe Zone" (3 inches above or below level). This particular adapter features a rise or drop of 6 inches. I have attached a great article that explains how to choose the best adapter for your setup if the rise/drop on this unit is not sufficient, along with a link that will take you to our available selection.

I have also included video demonstrations and installation instructions on the products mentioned that you can check out.

I just bought a 2005 Jeep Liberty Sport to tow behind my motorhome. I ordered the Road Master Direct Connect Item # RM521423-5 from Nick. There is a vidieo on etrailer on how to install on 2007 jeep liberty sport. I seen it before a few days ago, but can not find it again, Can you send me the link to the vidieo? Thanks a lot Chris. The page you posted from lists all the parts needed to flat tow a 2005-2007 Jeep Liberty. There is not a fixed kit as some users may choose to upgrade some parts, or save money on others. You can see the current prices by placing those items in your shopping cart. We do not post prices in our Q&A sections as the prices do change from time to time, but a question could remain posted publicly for a decade.
