Best 14 Inch Trailer Tires for an 8,000 Pound Tandem Axle Trailer

Question:

ST 205/75D 14 load range C, but from what I read that only covers about 7200 lbs. I think these are what came on it new. Dual axle.

The load range tire you use will depend on how many axles the trailer has and the size needed. If you are just replacing tires and not the wheels as well then I just need to know the size indicated on the tire sidewall. If you are replacing the tires and the wheels then in addition to the size I will need to know the bolt pattern of the wheels. I have included a link below to our help articles on determining wheel bolt pattern and trailer tires.

Thank you for the information. We have ST205/75-14 tires in load range B, C, and D. In this size your best option is a load range D. I recommend tire # AM10235. This tire is rated for 2,200 pounds at 75 psi for a total capacity of 8,800 pounds on a tandem axle trailer. You are still limited to the gross weight rating of the trailer of course. I do also recommend going to a higher capacity valve stem, # AM20906. The load range B will have a capacity of 1,430 pounds at 35 psi. On a tandem axle trailer that will provide a total of 5,720 pounds capacity. So that won't cut the mustard. Neither will the load range C option. The load range C tires in this size have a capacity of up to 1,925 pounds at 60 psi for a capacity of 7,700 pounds max on a tandem axle trailer.
