Reverse Lights on Toyota Tundra Come On When Braking While Pulling Boat Trailer
Question:
Have had existing boat for 5 years with no problems . purchased toyota tundra and when brakes applied the back up lights on truck come on . My question is , if these lights come on is it disengaging the brakes since they are disengaged by a solinoid when the vehicle is put in reverse.

It sounds like the wiring on your trailer 5-way connector is wired incorrectly. If the reverse lights are coming on when the brakes are applied, there is a good chance that the brakes are disengaging.
You will want to use a circuit tester, part # PTW2993, to test to make sure the wires are connected properly. I have linked an FAQ on wiring that shows the correct wire functions.
