Does Bump Stop Need to be Cut Same Length on Firestone and Air Lift Springs in Toyota Sequoia
Question:
I ordered an air lift kit for my 2003 Sequoia 4WD. I did not realize someone had previously installed Firestone bags which are all torn up inside the springs. Both kits require cutting the factory jounce bump, stop. Does the air lift cut the bump stop to the same length as the firestone? Or are the bags the same length? I do not want to proceed and find i have to do the job twice. Thanks

I took a look at the installation manual for both the Firestone Coil-Rite # F4124 and AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs # AL60812 that fit your 2003 Toyota Sequoia and the directions do differ a bit in terms of cutting the factory bump stop.
The Firestone specifies cutting the four convoluted sections of the bump stop while the AirLift requires measuring up to 6.75" from the flat surface that the jounce bumper strikes inside the coil spring which is where it will be trimmed.
I have cut out the portion of the manual for the AirLift springs that details this for you to check out.
