Right Turn Signal in Truck Side Trailer Connector Has No Power

Question:

I have a 14ft tandam with electric brakes on front axle, my right brake light running light and hazard light work as well as the brakes themselves but not right turn signal. I know the hazards are on a separate circuit. I checked voltage on the truck plug and I have 12 volts on the left turn signal blade but I do not have 12 volts on the right turn signal blade this again was checked on the truck side of the plug. Accorrding to the diagram on the plug cover the right turn signal and right brake use the same blade. So Im wondering if the issue is the truck or the trailer. Thank you.

Since you do not have power on the right turn signal/brake light pin on the truck side connector that would indicate that the issue is on the truck side. It could just be a tow package fuse that is blown or a relay that has gone bad. You can check your vehicle owner's manual for fuse and relay functions and locations for most vehicles. Otherwise the locations and functions will be found inside of the fuse panel lids.

If everything checks out fine then inspect the wiring to the connector and fix any pinched or damaged wires. And make sure the connector is clean and free of corrosion inside, where the wires attach, and outside on the pins.
