B&W 5th Wheel Hitches for 2017 Ram 2500 With and Without Factory Rail Kit
Question:
I have a 2017 ram 2500 , the inside bed measures about 76 inches. What type 5th hitch do I need

Expert Reply:
A 6-1/2-foot bed truck like your Ram 2500 will need a sliding type 5th wheel hitch in order for you to have enough clearance to make tight turns without the cab window and trailer making contact.
If your truck has the factory rail kit (with hitch mounting pucks in the bed) then the best option is the B&W Companion hitch model # BWRVK3670. B&W build quality is unmatched and their hitches are completely USA fabricated and assembled. This 20K-rated hitch includes features like a slider with 12-inches of travel, thick heavy-duty jaws, a fully-articulating head assembly for easier coupling on uneven ground and polyurethane bushings for a quitter ride. This hitch is hard to beat and you can see more about it in the linked video. You can use wiring kit # PK11893-11932 to give you a 7-way in the truck bed.
If your truck does NOT have the factory rail kit (meaning no pucks in the bed) then I suggest the B&W above bed installation kit # BWRVK2602 and their 18K-rated Patriot hitch # BWRVK3270.
If you don't have the rail kit and want to have BOTH 5th wheel and gooseneck towing capability in one hitch system then the way to go is the B&W install kit # BWGNRK1384-5W (which doubles as a gooseneck hitch) and their Companion slider model # BWRVK3400-5W. An install video is linked for you.
