Why Can't' the Convert-A-Ball 5th Wheel Adapter Be Used on a Factory Prep Package

Question:

As stated in the notes the c5gx1216 It is also not recommended for use with factory-installed towing prep packages from Ford, GM, Dodge, or Nissan.and yet the cab-cgx is not compatible with anything after 2011. Why is that? I have a 2004 F-250 with a pre-installed goose-neck and I need a conversion for a 5th wheel, suggestions?

For starters, you can use both the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter part # CAB-C5G or the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter w/ Offset part # CAB-C5GX1216 with the gooseneck hitch you have installed on your 2004 Ford F-250 as long as you do not have a rotating/air ride pin box. The gooseneck hitch you have was installed by the dealer and the Reese Elite Series Underbed Gooseneck Hitch was installed by the factory on Ford, Toyota, Nissan, and Dodge trucks.

The reason that these adapters are not recommended for use on the Reese Elite Series Underbed Gooseneck Hitch is because of the hitch ball with the flip-top release (see photo) which is not available for your 2004 Ford F-250. Therefore, you will have no issues using either adapter with your truck.
