How to Use a Reese 5th Wheel Hitch on a 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 with Factory Puck System
Question:
Is there a product available to adapt my current Reese 16k 5th wheel hitch to my new 2018 GMC 3500 long bed puck factory system?

Yes, in order to use your Reese 16K 5th Wheel Hitch part # RP30047 on your 2018 GMC Sierra 3500 8' bed with the factory puck system you will want to use the Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Chevy/GMC OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package part # RP49FR.
This adapter will serve as a connection point for any 5th wheel hitch that uses industry standard rails such as the above Reese 16K. It has a 27,000 lb capacity. The plate weighs around 95 lbs.
If you are looking for a new 5th wheel hitch that will attach directly to the factory pucks on your Sierra, I recommend the Curt A16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # C16520-16025. The greatest enhancement you will gain using the Curt A16 over the Reese is the ability to just drop the Curt hitch right into the pucks with no adapters needed.
I have attached a review video of the Curt A16 and sample photo of the adapter with a similar hitch for you as well.
