How to Tow 2015 Jeep JK That Has Snowplow Frame Installed

Question:

My wife and I just bought our first motor coach, and we would love to tow our 2015 Jeep JK. The fly in the ointment is, there is a Fisher SD plow frame mounted on the Jeep. I hope this is not a stupid question, but can a tow bar be attached to the receiver of the plow frame???

Not a stupid question at all. Since the snowplow mount on your Jeep connects to the frame, much like a set of towing base plates does, it is not unreasonable to ask if there is a way to connect a tow bar to this already-installed (and sturdy) mounting point. Good question, but the answer is less good: no, you can't.

The plow's mount and virtually any base plate are likely to use the very same or very nearby mounting points on the vehicle frame. That would mean that both of these weight-bearing items would have to be stacked together, if they would even fit at the same time, and this is a type of untested installation that neither the manufacturer of the plow nor the manufacturer of the base plate would approve. This is simply a matter of safety. I know of no maker of base plate or plow mount that offers adapters for the other type of application. You will need to remove the Fisher plow mount in order to install base plates.

Another towing option for the Jeep is a Tow Dolly such as # RM-2050-1. If your specific vehicle can be towed with the front wheels off the ground (and on the dolly) while the rear wheels remain on the ground, then this can be a good solution, especially if you want to keep the plow mount in place to allow you to plow in winter.
