Should Curt Bike Rack C18064 have Movement when Installed in a Trailer Hitch

Question:

I Purchased this rack for use with a Curt Hitch item # Code: C13115. The hitch is a 2 inch hitch and the bike rack is rated for 2 inch. There is a fair amount of wobble and play when the rack is installed in the hitch. Is this normal? Or is there some other way to make the fit tight? Thanks!

It is normal. The size difference between the 2 inch shank on an accessory and the 2 inch receiver on a hitch is done so that the accessory can be easily installed and removed without binding up. Curt bike rack # C18064 has a threaded hitch bolt that, when installed and snug, will take up some of that play.

You can eliminate even more movement by using a secondary anti-rattle device such as the Hitch Immobilizer # BX88224. This device is one of the most effective because it reduces movement vertically and horizontally.
