B&W Companion Slider Hitch for 2018 Ford F-350 Super Duty Short Bed with Factory Prep
Question:
I just bought a 2018 F350 short bed with the prep hitch package and I pull a 2015 keystone Cougar 303rls. They were going to order me the Ford hitch but I see it’s only compatible with 8 foot bed trucks. I used to pull this trailer with a 2004 F250 with a Reese slider but I never remember using the slider in the back position or having a cab clearance problem. Do you have any idea if this ford non slider would work without causing a problem?

The 2015 Keystone Cougar 303RLS 5th wheel is designed with a taper at the front corners of the overhang. This feature provides better turning clearance and in combination with certain trucks it may provide enough clearance. If the trailer happens to have a Sidewinder/Revolution pivoting pin box like # RP34FR or # RP61422 (a cushioned model) then a sliding hitch is NOT necessary and a standard fixed hitch can be used.
For the 6-3/4-foot bed truck with the factory 5th wheel rail prep installed you need either a Sidewinder or a slider hitch (but not both).
The B&W Companion Slider # BWRVK3370 offers outstanding build quality and 12-inches of travel which will be plenty when used with your tapered-overhang trailer. This hitch is completely fabricated and assembled in the USA and its 20K capacity will provide an excellent safety margin for your trailer's 12,100-lb GVWR and ensure a long service life.
This Companion hitch will drop right into your factory prep system and allow for removal any time you need a clear bed for cargo. Please refer to the video on the Companion.
