Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Where When Ground Touches Frame Sparks
Question:
I have a trailer with a seven pin connector. I hooked it up to my vehicle and the brake lights would go dim so I checked my ground wire on the trailer and it was hot. I unhooked the ground and still have the same problem brake lights are dim still.i touched the ground to the trailer and it made sparks. So what is my problem.

You have a short from a power source that's hot all the time on your trailer frame. Most likely this is the 12 volt accessory circuit of your trailer wiring. Normally this is the pin in the 1:00 position. Some where on your trailer wiring this circuit is touching the frame which is putting a small amount of current to it.
